This page is one of a series where I share a personal experience or anecdote related to my Reiki work.  The pages are also intended to give you some "food for thought" and add to your overall Reiki knowledge base. While the experience has been my own, I feel that you should decid for yourself how much (if any) of the content has any usefulness to your own Reiki work.
Remember the healing attunement?  It is a concept of using an attunement type ceremony but for healing purposes only (no energies are being attuned.)  If you have friends who are also Reiki Masters, and you like to explore things with them, you might try this idea using such a ceremony.  A long time ago one of my local Reiki Master friends went to Detroit USA to learn William Rand's new post master level class open to all masters.  Later this would become his Karuna Reiki Master class.  She also took a class with his friend and Qigong master, Glenn Derrick, who was responsible for 4 of the Karuna symbols' energy (after seeing them in a K. Milner handout.)  When she came back to Vancouver she wanted to try these out on others.  She asked to give me a healing attunement but she didn't tell me she would use 20 symbols.  After the attunement I could not move for several minutes.  I felt I was stuck to my chair.  smile

SSRNot long afterwards I came across the concept of a Reiki Power Sandwich.  I was learning the Sekhem-Seichim-Reiki system (SSR) from Tom Rigler.  There are quite a few symbols in the combined energy system and one part of the class suggests a way of combining the symbols into what can be considered a "sandwich."  Here is an example from the SSR book "All Love" by Diane Shewmaker.  You can see that your would draw the first Reiki symbol as the opening and closing, hence imitating the bread in a food sandwich.  Of course this assumes you have been attuned to each of these symbols with the original energiues.  It seems that the intention of such a method is to apply enough energy influence to either break through or erode an energy block responsible for a person's undesired condition.

This is just one example of the use of this.  Any other combination of symbols could be used.

DISCLAIMER:  I would caution that you might ask within if it is appropriate to use this combination on yourself or on someone else, and also that you ask permission to use it from the intended recipient.  As can be understood from my own experiences, sometimes unusual amounts and styles of energies brought together can have unintended results for the recipient.  You might want to begin with just 3 or 4 symbols and work your way up.   In most cases there are no requirements for the order of the symbols and how often they are included.  I suggest trying this first with Reiki practitioners or masters.  At least they will ahve had a certain experience with similar energies.

Combning energies doesn't need to be restricted to symbols, as is indicated by the SSR method of combining 3 different energies.  Years later I was reminded of my healing attunement experience when 3 of my master level friends got together since Tom Rigler was visiting, and so we were practing the Gendai reiju ceremony.  I was expecting to receive reiju from my friend Jaime and sat with my eyes closed.  Then I heard my other friend Warren reminding Jaime of the procedure.  Then there was quiet.  Suddenly I felt tremendou pressure on my head and then I found I could not move from the chair for several minutes.  They had surprised me when all 3 gave me Gendai reiju using Gendai Reiki energy at the same time. They were all impressed with this result so we did the same on each of the others.  And each of them had similar results.

Then I shared a little personal experience with my friends by means of a demonstration.  I asked my wife to come and sit for the same experience.  She agreed and this time all 4 of us did the reiju together on her at the same time.  Afterwards she just there, smiled, said it felt "nice" and then got up and went back to finish what she was doing in the kitchen.  My friends were very amazed.  I told them that one day my guides explained my wife's energy abilities to me. They said she was like a huge energy sponge, that she could hold much more energy than I could, and that it would be some time before I could catch up to her.  That was well over 20 years ago.  I am still catching up. smile
