This Note is one of a series where I give my ideas on aspects of Reiki and/or energy work. The pages are intended to give some "food for thought" and some are only my viewpoint. While a number of facts may be included, you should decide for yourself how much (if any) of the content feels right to you.

Feng Shui Compass (Luopan) - www.inamagine.comAccording to wikepedia.org "Feng Shui" literally translates as 'wind-water' in English."  Among other things it includes the art of positioning objects within a room to improve the flow of chi or energy, thus improving the life or well being of those using this space. To a certain extent, Japanese Shinto and other belief systems take this concept to an energy level by means of offering a blessing in order to purify or "set" a certain  energy space with a specific purpose, apart from the ordinary world.  This brings to mind how Usui no michi shichidan Dave King would set a space within a room where he intended to hold an Usui Do or Usui Teate class.  In some Reiki schools there are similar ideas taught concerning making use of the various energies in the class.

Recently a former students of mine was asking our Reiki support group for some help in getting rid of the drowsiness he felt some days at his work.  I think many of us have been in that situation, where we need to feel alert, but conditions or symptoms for us at the time were causing us to feel the opposite.  One of our members suggested that he might consult a physician as there might be underlying medical conditions that need to be addressed.  I felt this was good advice, especially since most of us are not ready to abandon normal medical solutions completely and replace them with Reiki or energy medicine.  This is why I still include my disclaimer with my Reiki material and on my web site.

However, in terms of Reiki work, there are some things that can be tried.

As an example, I once had a friend, a former Rosicrucian lodge master, take Reiki training with me.  He was also a computer specialist I had worked with for a few years.  He had recently begun a job in a local company of leading a group of people
responsible within a computer department for software upgrades and corrections. His role required that he have frequent group meetings with representatives of all departments that used the computer services, in order to prioritize which department his staff would be servicing in the coming weeks and months.  However, he said every meeting was like a battle zone with very few people getting along, each demanding that his or her own upgrades were the priority.  Everyone wanted my friend's  staff for their own needs, ignoring those of the other departments.  My friend said he felt like he was being targeted personally and pulled apart at each meeting.  He felt very exhausted after each meeting and so finally he asked me for help.

I suggested he think about and make use of his Reiki abilities (and other teachings) by sending energy to the meeting room each time, but in advance of each meeting.  I felt he would be too distracted to focus on this idea during the meeting.  I also suggested he additionally empower the room, either in-person or via distant means, by putting invisible symbols on the walls with the intention that people work together in harmony (and any other purpose he felt needed.)  He could also "target" key people in advance by using the Light Technique I teach, sending Light to their work area.  (Note: another possible approach is using the "Bridge of Light" technique as well.)

My friend tried this and as soon as the next meeting adjourned, he immediately phoned me.  He was excited and said the meeting was the best they ever had, that everyone got along for the first time and it was very productive.  He decided he would take this concept into other areas of his daily work.

Feng Shui Space - www.inamagine.comIf you think about it, you can try to change the energy of a room or a small space like a work cubicle in the same manner as my friend did.  You could send energies that will make the space feel very invigorating, productive, harmonious, calming, healing - you name it.  I call this Energy or Reiki Feng Shui.  In fact instead of re-arranging things in your living space at home, you could use this idea to change the energy in any corner or segment of the space, intending it to be a permanent source of Light or energy.  In all cases, if you are a bit unsure or doubtful you could "anchor" the energy to the space by means of something like a crystal or some other power object.

I've used this idea in many ways, including in class at times to either wake up energy-buzzed students or to quiet them down, or for adding additional focus to a certain topic.  Obviously patients' or clients' rooms, living areas or work places can be handled this way as well.  And you might even assist family and friends by "targeting" their own work space for them.  Using the Light Technique, one can intend permanent sources of Light (Reiki or whatever) to assist this.

As it turns out, our list member had successfully used this idea previously for his university oral exams.  I suggest you put your creative minds to work and see if you can come up with something similar and easy for you to use.  Then take a few moments on your way to work, school or your destination each day to try this idea.  Or perhaps sit quietly for a few minutes and energize or reapply your energies to different areas of your home.  You can explore making some areas more invigorating than others, some more reflective, or quiet areas, etc.  This way your selected space might be a more happy and productive environment for you, and for those who come into this area each day.  Reiki Feng Shui - now you know what you've been doing with your distant energy work.
